Newcastle Hunter Mummas are Mel Sargeant and Bec Tansey, both Mums and Novocastrians, passionate about supporting mothers as best they can. NHM realised not everyone has family support and so NHM tires to be that helping mothers within our community through our extensive network, aiding where they can and bringing incredible experiences to families that could not otherwise have been able to afford it.

Bec started the NHM Facebook Support Group when she was told she couldn’t join a mother’s group with her third child. She’d just moved to Newcastle and wanted to make ‘Mum Friends’ and connect with other Mummas. The group now consists of over 30K Newcastle Hunter Mummas passionate about helping each other and celebrating the joys of motherhood as well as supporting mums during tough times.

Mel is a radio broadcaster with over 10 years experience working for Nova and Austereo Networks and more recently New Fm Newcastle. She decided to do something more purposeful with her career after having her kids and feeling like no one was talking to her as a mother when she listened to radio. She decided to create NHM- I GOT IT FROM MY MUMMA PODCAST alongside beautiful all knowing Mumma Bec and loves working with her.

When Mel isn’t working on the show or the NHM brand she loves to pretend a bomb hasn’t gone off in the house and have a coffee while her babies climb on her. She also owns Newcastle Podcast Station who produce education podcasts, mental health podcasts, youth programs and more, she still also spends some time radio station New Fm.

When Bec isn’t working on NHM she has a day job during school hours in finance, but it doesn’t impact her being the most incredible mother. Bec’s entire life revolves around her three boys and her beautiful daughter. She loves spending time with them and her incredible partner, Chris and patting her pet rescue cat and enjoying a wine with friends.
