SHARK ATTACKS AT PORT STEPHENS

A shark has bitten a man on his upper right arm at a Port Stephens beach, north of Newcastle. The man suffered minor injuries and is currently at the John Hunter Hospital. The 50 year old was in the water at Samurai Beach on One Mile Beach, near Anna Bay when he was struck just shy of 8am. It’s thought this was mainly due to the increased shark population with a whale carcass in the area. The team from the Rescue Helicopter said:

"He was stable and conscious when emergency services arrived … [and] the wound was treated and wrapped on the beach."
