The Real Film Festival Newcastle in it’s seventh year
We should be so proud of our wonderful city. Newcastle is bursting at the seams with creativity and people doing exciting things. It also has a heart and a soul that is truely unique and one of it’s treasures now in it’s seventh year is The Real Film Festival running from the 26th til the 28th of October.
Special guest presenters this year include Academy Award nominated cinematographer, Don McAlpine as well as Zac Garred, a Newcastle-born actor who’s enjoyed great success here and abroad. Don’t think just because you’re a part time film maker or a cinema buff that’s always had dreams of creating your own work that these workshops aren’t for you, the truth is actually the opposite according to Real Film Festival Director, Annette Hubber.
“If you love filmmaking or just enjoying watching brilliant movies, seeing short stories, or spending an evening under the stars in an open air cinema, you can be part of the Festival.”
“The diversity of films this year is quite incredible, with a number of great local stories to tell. Stone Empire explores the Newcastle music scene, Brewtown uncovers the local craft beer industry and Hey Honey celebrates our local, amazing honey makers,”
On Saturday the 27th of October at Speers Point Park, families are invited to share the in the Festival excitement with a free open air cinema from 5PM! Screened will be Natalie Ritter’s short film about the race to saye her four-year-old daughter’s life then Cool Runnings will screen directly after that. There will be plenty of entertainment, food, drink and activities available on the day.
We have doubles to give away to The official Program Launch where you can enjoy Draytons Wine as well as beautiful canapés at the Culture Club on King Street, we’ll then walk down the road to the Tower Cinemas and take in an advanced screening of Momentum Generation, a story about mateship, passion and legacy in the pro surfing world and the complexity of their relationships with each other and their sport and after that you can revel in enjoyable conversation with like minded creatives at the Gala Party at Customs House Hotel.
