Police were informed last week that a 14-year-old girl was sexually assaulted in bushland after getting off a bus on the Pacific Highway near South Street, about 3.30pm last Wednesday (17 October 2018). These were the facts reported to Lake Macquarie Police District.

They then launched an investigation with the assistance of detectives from the Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad. Extensive investigations, including forensic examinations and interviews with a number of people have lead them to believe this was a false report.

The alleged victim has been spoken to at length by police and offered support services.
